About the project
I bought this chair with a missing cover around the armrest support. It's not only cosmetic, its function is also to guide a cable in its rightful slot when moving the armrest up or down. The lack of a sleeve was starting to bend and damage that wire. This design was an interesting challenge, I think it's the first time I used the Loft function.
I printed the part with fuzzy skin on the outside surface only, to match the look and feel of the original piece. I designed it to be printed with its top on the build plate, so it only needs minimal support. The Snap mechanism could be holding better but it closes with a satisfying click.
Overall I'm pretty happy with it. I realized afterwards that the thickness of the original varies a lot, and I measured only the thickest part, so my print is thicker than the original, making the fit a bit too tight, so I had to resort to glueing the 2 halves so they don't split when I move the armrest upp or down.
