About the project
This is the 3rd design of this concept. The brief? Toothbrush cups are always nasty at the bottom and toothbrush heads catch the dust. I designed this contraction to remedy this, and more. I wanted a one-handed way to put toothbrushes in a covered wall support. I designed a gear mechanism to convert a translation movement into a rotational one: you slide the toothbrush up/down and the cover lifts open/closed. There's multiple interacting parts, tight tolerances,... Over-engineered? Maybe, but it works and it's kinda cool, no? There's a wall mount, a slider, a rack gear that I printed separately to have a clean result, the toothbrush support and the cap with a gear inside. I animated the thing in fusion 360 to check any points of collision as well as the overall behavior. Kinda cool, I think.
